CAJUN COOKING June 3-7, June 10-14, or June 17-21, 9:00-Noon Laissez les bons temps rouler - let the good times roll! Come learn the art of Cajun cooking that creates the delicious flavors of Louisiana. You will learn the essentials of Louisiana cooking and learn the history behind Cajun cuisine. In this hands-on camp, you will be in the kitchen chopping, measuring, and stirring up delicious cajun meals. Some items that you will cook include chicken and sausage gumbo, crawfish bread, and crawfish Monica. You will also learn how to make a delicious king cake dessert. Campers will take home a cookbook with all of the recipes cooked throughout the week. Please note that recipes may include nuts.

CANDLE MAKING CUBS June 3-7, June 10-14, or June 17-21, 9:00-Noon Who doesn't love breathing in the smell of a freshly burning candle? Have you always wondered what it takes to make one? Come learn how to become a master candle maker in Candle-Making Cubs! You will learn about the process of designing candle labels, mixing fragrances, and handling candle wax properly to keep that flame burning bright. Every time you light one of your new candles and catch a whiff of its delicious scent, you'll be reminded of how much fun you had making them with your friends at MCA summer camp. So, are you ready to get "lit"? Come join us to channel your inner candle maker!
CARMELETTE PIROUETTES June 17-21, 9:00-Noon Dance camp is designed to teach girls how to perform various styles of group routines. Campers will be introduced to jazz, pom-pon, novelty, and high kick routines. Girls will also learn parade routines, stands routines, and techniques in jazz and lyrical dancing. The camp is under the direction of Mrs. Amanda Pellegrin, assisted by the members of the Carmelette Dance Team.

CRAFT NOLA June 24-28, 9:00-Noon or 1:00-4:00 Join us for a DIY camp as we craft through the New Orleans' seasons! From Sno-ball door hangers and Saints fleur de lis to Mardi Gras tutus and beadart and Jazz Fest flower crowns, campers will take home beautiful crafts inspired by our vibrant city. This camp does not disappoint; come join us as we add a little Nola flair to our crafting.
CSI MCA FORENSIC CAMP June 17-21, 1:00-4:00 or June 24-28 9:00-12:00
Campers will work as part of an elite team of investigators to help solve a crime. Campers will gain experience in evidence gathering and testing techniques. Forensic dogs from ATF will visit, and their duties will be demonstrated. Campers will perform hair, synthetic blood typing, and DNA analysis. Fingerprint analysis is taught by a retired expert in the field. At the end of the week, campers will use their knowledge and skills to solve a crime.
CUB OLYMPICS June 10-14, 1:00-4:00
Are you a great puzzle solver? Do you want to flex your athletic muscles? Do you enjoy team sports? Cub Olympics is the camp for you! Campers will work in smaller teams to compete in a variety of games that require teamwork, puzzle solving, minute-to-win-it games, trivia knowledge, and more. Teams will earn points for each of the daily events, and at the end of the week, campers participate in a medal ceremony to celebrate their achievements. Join us and go for the gold!

Have you ever wondered how an app is made? Campers will be introduced to basic coding using block based visual programming. We will be creating interactive stories, designing animation, and making mini games using code and our imaginations! No coding experience is required.

Come and crochet your cares away this summer with the Crochet Cubs!! If you are tired of scrolling on your phone and are looking for a fun and relaxing activity to while away the time on those long vacation road trips or just hanging out at home, then this is the workshop for you. In this workshop you will learn the basics of crochet, and you will have the opportunity to make something you can take home and use. All campers will receive her own skein of yarn and crochet hook.
CUBS WITH THE SPIKES TRACK CAMP June 10-14, 9:00-Noon This camp offers THE Track & Field experience of the summer! The camp leaders are experienced Track & Field coaches and athletes, and the campers will learn how to jump, throw, exchange batons, sprint out of starting blocks, and experience all of the fun that Track & Field has to offer. The camp will be located at the City Park Practice Track. Campers should plan on bringing a large water bottle and wear a good pair of tennis shoes, shorts, and a t-shirt.
Please note: Track camp will be held at City Park Practice Track. Bus transportation will be provided from Mount Carmel Academy leaving at 8:45 a.m. to City Park and back to Mount Carmel Academy at noon. Parents may choose to drop off and pick up directly at City Park.
DIG IT AND DIG DEEPER June 3-7, 1:00-4:00 June 10-14, 1:00-4:00 Dig It is designed for girls of all skills levels to improve their knowledge of volleyball and develop skills through drill and reinforcement. The Dig Deeper advanced camp is designed for girls who have prior knowledge of the game and are ready to be further challenged. This camp offers more competition, instruction on specialized positions, and advanced drills.
FAST PITCH FRENZY June 3-7, 9:00-Noon
Softball camp is designed for the player who has prior knowledge of the game and will re-introduce technical and advanced aspects of softball. This advanced camp is aimed at the serious and goal-oriented softball player who is ready to push herself in all aspects of the game. The program includes field position training, fine tuning defensive skills, pitching lessons, personal lessons for catchers, and offensive game tactics. The camp is under the direction of Head Coach Curtis Matthews, with assistance from members of the MCA softball team and staff. Players must have glove, cleats, helmet, bat, and catcher's gear. Please note: This camp will be held at Muss Bertolino Softball Fields on West Esplanade Avenue. Bus transportation will be provided from Mount Carmel Academy leaving at 8:40 to Muss Bertolino and back to MCA. Parents may choose to drop off and pick up directly at Muss Bertolino.

If you spend your summer playing video games, this is the camp for you! Gear up for Mario Kart Tournaments, Smash Brothers Challenges, and other gaming events in the Gamer Girls camp! Campers will also play games on iPads and even create their own games with fun coding apps! Come and prove that the greatest gamers are girls!
GREAT CARMEL BAKING CHALLENGE June 3-7, 1:00-4:00
Are you a fan of the hit TV show "The Great British Bake Off?" Then this camp is for you! Spend the week baking, laughing, and - most importantly - eating your favorite traditionally British cakes, breads, and desserts that have been featured on the show. Whether you're making Victoria sponges or quick breads, you will be sure to find something you like. In addition to a guided recipe every day, you will also enjoy a technical challenge where you can really put your baking skills to the test. Your overall efforts will culminate in a final Showstopper challenge on the last day that will leave you ready to bake more! Get Ready, Set, Bake!

This camp is designed to provide girls quality instruction in fundamental basketball skills. Players of all levels will have the opportunity to learn and improve on skills, such as shooting, ball-handling and game play. The camps will be conducted by Coach Jamie Thomatis who will be assisted by the MCA basketball team.

Immerse yourself in digital photography as we focus on looking at the world around you in a creative new way! Prepare to learn more about the functions of a camera to help you capture exciting photos in the field. Campers will then take their photos to the editing room where they will learn how to creatively develop their shots and experience the digital printing process as they print multiple photos! Join us as a new or experienced photographer to learn skills and take your photos from ordinary to extraordinary! (Please note: cameras will be provided for all campers.)

LIGHTNING THIEF CAMP June 3-7 or June 10-14, 1:00-4:00 Join us this summer as we delve into the world of Greek gods, goddesses, and monsters. Based off the Percy Jackson novels and the new Disney + series, girls will figure out their godly parent, learn more about Greek mythology, practice their monster fighting skills, craft magical items, and hopefully earn their end of summer bead to mark another year surviving as a half blood. This camp will be centered around the Percy Jackson books and TV series. It will include a range of lessons about the Greek gods and goddesses, outdoor games and exercises for the girls to prepare as “monster fighters”, and handmade crafts that incorporate the Percy Jackson story and Greek mythology.

Students will use cutting-edge technology in our Maker Lab to transform an idea on paper into a 3-D model that is then brought to life with a 3-D printer! Students will learn all aspects of design, from sketching to 3-D modeling, and will get to take their fun creations home. From accessories to toys and everything in between, campers will create jaw-dropping designs in our 3-D printing camp! Let’s make your creative ideas a reality!

Calling all slime-making experts! If you love experimenting with all things ooey gooey, then roll up your sleeves and prepare to get sticky! We will be making more unique, advanced slime recipes including fluffy, chalkboard, cloud, crunchy, jiggly, butter, sand, and more! You will use a digital tablet to paint and draw anything your heart desires. Using special software you will learn the basics of digital painting. We will create artwork of your favorite subjects - nature, animals, people, and fun illustrations. You will print your best work and take it home with you!

PAW PRINTS: BULLET JOURNALING June 24-28, 9:00-Noon
Do you want to bujo? This type of creative, do-it-yourself journal is an amazing way to express your vision. We will learn about the different spreads that you can make. We will use stamps, washi tape, markers, and pens to create colorful fun bujos that track busy cub lives and important milestones and anything our cub imaginations can dream up.
PRESERVING MEMORIES June 3-7, June 10-14, or June 24-28, 1:00-4:00 The scrap-booking camp is designed either for the beginner or proficient girl who wants to learn how to creatively design and create scrapbooks or for someone looking for an exciting, new hobby. Students will be shown various ways of putting pages together, how to use the various tools, and sort pictures. The final product will be a fabulous scrapbook. Campers are asked to bring about 50 to 75 pictures to use in the scrapbook.
SEW FUN 101 June 3-7, 1:00-4:00 This sewing camp will cover the basic parts of the sewing machine and how to use the machine correctly. There will be a main project with smaller projects each day. Some hand sewing will be involved. Campers will be encouraged to learn the correct techniques for completing their projects and to use creativity to embellish them.
SIT & KNIT June 17-21, 1:00-4:00 Do you need a break from the rush of all the many activities that are on the schedule throughout the year? Tired of running from gymnastics to piano, to soccer, to club meetings? Or do you just want to get away from the ever present phone and social media? Step back in time and learn a new skill while you sit and KNIT! Knitting is a great way to de-stress while improving one's ability to focus on details. In this workshop students will learn how to cast on and cast off and the basic knitting stitches to create either a simple beanie hat or scarf.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE W/ RHYTHM June 24-28, 9:00-Noon
This camp will simulate what it is like to be on a reality television dance show. Campers will be divided into small groups and will randomly draw dance genres. Every morning will start with technique class, then each group will learn two dances plus the opening number. The week will culminate with a live show for family and friends complete with costumes and audience members voting for their favorite performance in a variety of categories. This camp is under the direction of Mrs. Kelly Amstutz with assistance from the Rhythm Dance team.
SOCCER CAMP June 3-7, 9:00-Noon
Soccer Camp will introduce the technical aspects of soccer. The program will present defensive and offensive techniques and will introduce game tactics. The camp will focus primarily on the how, when, and where of goal scoring techniques in game situations. This advanced camp is aimed at the serious, driven player who wants to push herself to be successful goal scorers. The camp is under the direction of MCA soccer coaches, Pavlos Petrou and Alexi Petrou, with assistance from members of the MCA soccer staff and team. Ball, shin guards, and proper footwear are required.
Please note: This camp will be held at Pan Am Stadium in City Park. Bus transportation will be provided from Mount Carmel Academy leaving at 8:45 to Pan Am and back to MCA. Parents may choose to drop off and pick up directly at Pan Am Stadium.
SOUTHERN BELLES June 17-21, 1:00-4;00
We say “Thank you,” we say “Please.” We don’t interrupt or tease. We’re not rude or crude and we certainly don’t give attitude. We share and take turns. Manners are fun and easy to learn! Join us for Southern Belles – a new, interactive etiquette camp. Through crafts, spa day, baking, tea time, and engaging activities, the campers will learn basic manners and skills they can use for a lifetime as a true Southern Belle!
STICKER MAKING 101 June 3-7, 9:00-Noon or 1:00-4:00
In Sticker Making 101 you will focus on making stickers of all kinds. We'll use various techniques to create metallic, waterproof, and glow in the dark stickers. We’ll use gel pens, stamps and specialty papers to create some of these stickers. You will also be designing, painting and drawing on iPads to create your own unique stickers to take home.
SUMMER IN THE SPOTLIGHT II: Into the Woods June 3-21, 1:00-4:00 (3 week camp)
Theatre Camp features singing, dancing, and acting culminating in a final production of “Into the Woods." This three-week camp combines entertainment skills with a fun-filled theatre experience. Session II is open to girls and BOYS entering 5th to 8th grade. Please note: Registration for all three weeks of the theater camp is required to participate in the Summer in the Spotlight II camp.
VIRTUAL INTERIOR DESIGN June 10-14 or June 17-21, 9:00-Noon Calling all future designers! Campers will be given a budget, theme, and rooms and challenged to decorate for their randomly selected celebrity client. Each day campers will have a different room to design and will work with one another to research the celebrity's likes and dislikes in order to design the perfect room. At the end of the week, there will be a panel of judges to see who best met the theme, budget, and goal of each room. Come express your creativity, interact with new friends, and learn how to budget while meeting goals and expectations.
WE'VE GOT SPIRIT, YES WE DO CHEER CAMP! June 3-7 or June 24-28, 1:00-4:00 Whether you're just starting out or looking to polish up your skills, you can find your summer cheerleading fix at MCA! This camp will introduce and improve cheer motions, jump techniques, and basic tumbling skills. Learn a mini competition routine - including jumps, tumbling, cheer, and dance - to show off at the end of the week. Come join MCA's competition cheerleaders in spreading our cub spirit!
WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER June 3-7, 9:00-Noon Spend a week this summer in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Get tips from Olivander as you learn to make your own magic wand. Have a fun week in our exciting television studio learning how to create digital movies. Learn new skills and express your creativity. Campers learn basic media production skills: camera work, editing, lighting, storyboarding, television and newsroom production, directing and much more. They are inspired to create movies in an atmosphere where learning is interchangeable with fun.
