COOKING WITH CLASS I AND II Cooking I: June 11-15, 9:00-Noon or 1:00-4:00 Cooking II: June 18-22, 9:00-Noon
Cooking I camps are beginner level camps that introduce students to basic cooking skills through daily food labs. Making healthful food choices, learning about etiquette and table settings are emphasized. Cooking II camp builds upon the first cooking camp experience and helps campers gain confidence in cooking skills. The camps will be taught by Mrs. Kim Schultz and Mrs. Cathy Pennison who will be assisted by Mount Carmel students. Please note that some recipes will contain nuts.
CUB KITCHEN CREATIONS June 22-29, 9:00-Noon or 1:00-4:00
Campers will gain nutrition information and culinary skills from a local dietitian/caterer while participating in activities geared to living a healthier lifestyle. Campers will experience organic farming by planting a personal herb garden; as well as how to prepare different types of healthy meals that they will love! Homemade ranch, kale chips, fantastic honey mustard dipping sauce, hummus, custom smoothies, and low carb pizzas are just a few delicacies the girls will create and eat in this exciting camp. One the last day of the week, campers will compete for the title of “Top Cub Kitchen.” Campers will also bring home a cookbook and daily treats to share with family and friends.
CUPCAKES, COOKIES, AND CAKES, OH MY! June 4-8, 9:00-Noon or 1:00-4:00
Campers will learn basic baking skills such as dough preparation and decorating techniques. Activities will include baking and decorating cookies, cakes, and cupcakes. The girls will leave camp each day with masterpieces to eat or share with others!
HAVE A BLAST WITH BOARD GAMES June 18-22, 9:00-Noon or June 25-29, 1:00-4;00
Do you love board games and strategy games? Then this is the camp for you. Have a blast learning new board and strategy games! Campers will learn the basic of chess, improve their vocabulary with Bananagrams, sharpen their minds with Scattegories, show off their knowledge with a game of Jeopardy, and a whole lot more. After a week of fun, campers will vote on a game to compete in the final championship.
I AM AN AUTHOR! June 4-8, 9:00-Noon
Do you love telling stories and imagining wildly? Take up your pen and come explore the wide, imaginative world of creative writing. Every day our young authors will sample a variety of writing activities to learn the elements of fiction and poetry. Projects include creating an illustrated book of short stories or poems and adapting the short stories we write into collaborative play scripts to perform for the class. Are you ready to begin your masterpiece? Come be an author!
SEW FUN 101 June 18-22, 9:00-Noon
This sewing camp will cover the basic parts of the sewing machine and how to use the machine correctly and will also bring in other handicrafts such as a tie pillow, simple cross stitching, sewing buttons, etc. There will be a main project with smaller projects each day. Space is limited.
SOUTHERN BELLES June 11-15, 9:00-Noon
We say “Thank you,” we say “Please.” We don’t interrupt or tease. We’re not rude or crude and we certainly don’t give attitude. We share and take turns. Manners are fun and easy to learn! Join us for Southern Belles – an interactive etiquette camp. Through crafts, spa day, baking, tea time, and engaging activities, the campers will learn basic manners and skills they can use for a lifetime as a true Southern Belle!
TIME TRAVELERS June 18-22, 1:00-4:00 Hop in the MCA time machine and go back in time! Experience what life was like in Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, the Middle Ages /the Renaissance, Pioneer times, and the 1940's. Time travelers will make crafts, do STEM activities, and learn about life during each time period.
